My Life Skills & Business Books: the what & why of each

Business & Life Skills

Intertwined whether we like it or not

As my teaching and global consulting career has unfolded, I constantly strive to add equity to what I teach and how I teach it. These seven books are part of my intellectual property portfolio. Each serves a different learning objective. If one of these might help, trust it with confidence.

TITLE: Rich Without Money (Life Skills for Better Business & Living)

WHAT: A head management guide to help people manage the noise and pressures of work-centric and life stress.

WHY: Having worked at senior levels with America’s top brands, gaps in human development were apparent. RWM was written to close them.

TITLE: Managing the Worry Circle (How to Improve Your Life by Worrying Less)

WHAT: A dissection and learning guide to explain the subject of Worry and how to manage it more effectively, immediately and forever.

WHY: Most people are clueless on the subject and need help. For some reason, this is never taught in schools but should be. Mandatory reading for anyone who wants to better manage the stress of work and daily life. Worry Circle earned me global recognition and has helped people all around the world.

TITLE: Maximum Horsepower (How to Strengthen Your Sales Force Quickly)

WHAT: Axiom silver-medalist for best American business writing, Max HP teaches the key elements to creating and sustaining a high-performing sales culture.

WHY: Everywhere I taught around the world, many of the same issues kept popping up. Max H-P explains why those exist and how to quickly gap-close each. A great read for students of pro selling and pro sales leaders bent on overachievement.

TITLE: Portable Dad (Stuff to Know Without the Lecture)

WHAT: The book is exactly what the title says, tailored for young adults and those who no longer have a sounding board for teaching guidance.

WHY: My daughter was flying the coop for good. In case something happens to me, I wanted her to have an easy to use, quick reference guide with zero excess rhetoric surrounding the best way to deal with issues life throws at us. Parents often gift this to their children, something I am quite proud of.

TITLE: Highway to Somewhere

WHAT: A story-driven parable written to showcase Scott Dow’s Lean Staffing Methodology principles.

WHY: Recruiting is a relatively inefficient mess of human juggling. The book was written to explain (in entertaining story form) exactly what to do in order to streamline a far more efficient process. I enjoyed co-authoring this one since I am a very strong believer in Scott’s approach.

TITLE: The Impact of Technology on Behavior& Happiness

WHAT: A research-based deep dive, patient explanation into the behavioral changes that tech’s expanding permeation throughout workplace and lifestyle habits is causing.

WHY: In all my years dealing with behavioral influence, nothing has caused as much behavioral change as our tidal wave of tech expansion. Casualties are being created. I don’t want anyone becoming one of them. Education and fact-based information is your best defense against become a mental midget or emotional casualty.

TITLE: Getting a New Job (A Smartbook to Land Your Next Great Opportunity)

WHAT: This one teaches how to interview more effectively, with confidence, when telling your story. The hardest part of a job is never doing it; it’s getting the chance in the first place.

WHY: Many wonderful people have no idea how to package and present themselves, and lack the confidence to separate from others interviewing for the same position. This is a learnable skill. I am gratified by the many successes the book has helped good people create as they climb upward in their chosen careers.

Thanks for reading!
