Getting a New Job
Last summer I was contacted eight days in a row by professionals from five countries on three continents, each asking for help during a job search. Some wanted to find a new opportunity, others had to. Their questions were different and covered the full spectrum from starting the hunt to prepping to confidently present themselves during a big interview. Eight in a row told me there exists a need for help. Getting a New Job fills the need.
The book answers everything I was asked about, as well as explains a wide array of behavioral dynamics from talking heads on both sides of the desk: the hiring manager’s and the candidate’s.
Every job comes with some degree of situational inconvenience. If it didn’t, an employer wouldn’t need to pay to get the work done. Navigating the interview process successfully to earn a desired opportunity is often harder than the responsibilities we are paid to complete. By systematically breaking down the key elements of insightful understanding, Getting a New Job helps a candidate package and present themselves the best way possible.
Getting a New Job reveals how to present your best, most confident self when pursuing whatever it is you wish to do. For example, the book explains:
- The three vital questions to ask yourself when mulling over whether to leave a job.
- The challenges of exiting one line of work to try another.
- Packaging your personal value proposition.
- What to say and how to say it with succinct confidence during interviews.
The book covers those and much more. Most importantly, as each chapter shares insight and advice, it also explains the “why.” When I set out to share this information, I wanted it to be a teaching guide–not something that pompously proffered “what to do” without the why. Insight and confidence come from understanding the why. Once you understand the behavioral dynamics involved in a meaningful job search, you are free to pursue it with great confidence.
Sometimes all a good person needs is a bit of front-end coaching to reposition a life and career. Getting a New Job provides just that. Results since publication have been gratifying. If it helps you too, please make sure to let me know.
