Ted’s Movies

raven-of-st-jamessparkmovie-poster-thumb-192x300The Raven of St. James’s Park

** an original screenplay optioned for movie development! **

The Raven of St. James’s Park is a fun, uplifting class-conflicted romantic comedy (and wonderful story of redemption) set in modern London.

A social commentary, The Raven is an inspiring multicultural and multigenerational story of goodness for all four principal characters: a bitter old soldier, a gutsy young immigrant waitress, a buttoned-down fourth generation public servant, and a raven freed from captivity and determined to do good deeds.

This screenplay has been optioned and in pre-production. Plans include shooting The Raven on location in the heart of some of London’s most historic locations.

This is a “feel good” film with a great lead character (George Datchet) and a marvelous supporting cast of quirky, loveable personalities. The goal when crafting story was to make sure that movie fans leaving the theater were happier than when they walked in.

Sometime soon we hope to be able to invite you to a local theater and prove it.

As featured in The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Screendaily, and the Cannes Film Festival.

12MilestoParadise-cvr-thumbBonefish
(The Galloping Ghost of Bimini)

** Previously optioned for for movie development. Rights regained. This property is again available.**

An adapted screenplay based on Ted’s mainstream comedy novel “12 Miles to Paradise.”

Bonefish is a quirky, upbeat multicultural coming-of-age story set primarily on the tiny Bahamian island of Bimini. The story showcases the best of scenic Bimini along with the remarkable talents of several island personalities.

Funny and inspiring, Bonefish shares a young man’s roller-coaster journey from confused teen to confident young man. Based on the award-winning novel’s original comedic storyline, Bonefish spotlights life in modern day Bimini as the island deals with the cultural challenges that come from unwanted development and forced transformation.

The picturesque film ideally would be shot on location, including the street where director Jonathan Demme and actor Anthony Hopkins filmed the final scene of Demme’s Oscar-winning Silence of the Lambs in 1990.

PiggyChurchfront-cvr-thumbThe Rise and Fall of Piggy Church

**  Previously optioned for motion picture development. Rights recently regained.** Movie script adapted from the surf-themed dramatic novella of the same name

Honored by the prestigious surfing bible The Surfer’s Journal as a seminal work, Piggy Church is a gripping murder/mystery whodunit . . . without a definitive murder.

Although my trademark work is ensemble comedy, this story is the opposite — it is about five selfish people whose lives revolve around a pier. While my comedies are multicultural ensemble stories with happy endings because that’s the way I want the world to be, Piggy is different. This story is about five selfish people who scheme with and against each other, because that’s the way the world really is.

Piggy Church is a surfer, a sellout hotshot who trades the lifestyle for a maniacal pursuit of money. The movie adaptation is a recent chronicle of the times, so the story revolves around three of surfing’s most emotional issues: selling out or not selling out; the attack of the true surf culture by the expanding pandering to wannabees; and what I called No Cold Sand — the trading of open beaches for the big money development of beachfront condominiums.

It is always an honor to have a book or screenplay optioned for movie development. The Rise and Fall of Piggy Church has been a very popular story with global legs that has twice been optioned for film but now is once again available.
