I am super-excited to announce the impending release of my new book: The Impact of Technology on Behavior & Happiness.
The fourth in my behavioral life skills series, The Impact has been in research for several years. I am thrilled the book is near completion and will soon be available around the world.
The time invested, research involved, and audiences who have responded to speeches on many of the topics shared have made the mountain of work worth every minute. The reception I received recently when speaking at MIT’s graduate school has been especially inspiring, and I remain grateful to all who have encouraged a written version of this important project.
The Impact will help readers understand what the heck is going on — and why — as our bodies and minds act and react to technology’s continual re-shaping of an increasingly hypnotized global landscape.
In the years following my book Managing the Worry Circle (How to Improve Your Life by Worrying Less), the recession, the velocity of life, and explosion of technology have altered behavior. There is also no doubt technology’s expanding societal permeation will continue to change how the world lives, thinks, and interacts. The book explains exactly what is going on, for better and worse.
As a behavioralist, my interest and curiosity in this particular space is every bit as intense today as when I began my deep-dive fifteen years ago. The Impact is a project driven by great passion — the written culmination of thousands of hours of ever-expanding and constantly changing research. The book takes a broad leap beyond Worry Circle, which helped people on six continents better understand what they worry about and how manage their happiness more effectively. Technology, of course, is now serving plenty more to worry about.
The Impact will share what has been good about increased technological reliance, as well as providing data-driven insight about specific behavioral trends that are very detrimental to personal health and happiness. The book shares some startling facts and strategic trends, plus some crushing news about the rising problems of digital addiction, stress, and pressure on college campuses. The Impact examines key issues from four perspectives: where we were, where we are, where we are going, and what people can and should do today to guard against behavioral risk.
This book is relevant to anyone who is captive to his or her fingertips at work, home, or in the classroom, and also for family and business leaders concerned about dependence, habits, and behaviors of others.
The Impact is a comprehensive but easy read and will be available everywhere by early summer in print and electronic form. I will share release updates as the launch grows closer.
Thank you very much for reading about my latest work. Check back soon for more information.
Best regards always,
