The American Arm Candy Association
Celebrating Beauty in Women of a Certain Age
founded 2024
A spirited, triangulated discussion between author Ocean Palmer, Austin TX business magnate C. M. Reed, and an attractive yet calendar-experienced small business owner complaining about her inability to find a suitable date on coastal Georgia’s gray-haired St. Simons Island exploded into what Palmer dubbed the “AACA.”
The woman had downplayed her desirability. Palmer and Reed disagreed, insisting she was, at the very least, “wrist or forearm candy-worthy.”
The woman shook her head. “Men here want young blondes or Q-tips (short white hair),” she said. “Nobody wants an aging brunette.”
“Au contraire,” chorused Palmer and Reed. While Paris remains the world’s Alamo of aging dark hair relevance, the men said attractive women are everywhere.
“I created the American Arm Candy Association to recognize and celebrate beauty in women of a certain age,” Palmer said. “Beauty is not measured by candles on a cake. A woman who is beautiful at 20, 30, and 40 will remain that way at 50, 60, and 70 if she takes care of herself and doesn’t smoke or drink too much.”
“That’s what we wanted to honor,” added Reed. “Beauty beyond boundaries. A number is not a boundary.”
The AACA recognition framework is aimed for women 49 and older. A woman cannot self-nominate, nor be nominated by a relative. “Individualism, not cronyism,” stressed Palmer. “Nominees are encouraged.”
To nominate someone for consideration into the AACA, email World Headquarters. Make sure to include “Who, Where, and Why” someone deserves consideration.
Submit electronically to Ocean Palmer: ted@oceanpalmer.com.
A member of the judging panel will acknowledge receipt of the nomination and circle back.
Arm Candy honorees receive:
- A hand-signed letter of congratulations
- An official AACA logo sticker
- AND a coveted AACA Heat Index Rating to brag about at parties, wedding receptions, and Happy Hours.
The AACA also awards two additional levels of recognition, Wrist Candy and Forearm Candy, and honorees can (and often do) escalate from one level to the next.
The faster the AACA expands the better the world gets. Recognize and appreciate the beauty in others . . . and have fun spreading the word!
Respectfully,
Ocean Palmer
